After a long process for approval, the European Union on 25 May 2016 approved the new Privacy Regulation 2016/679, more commonly referred to as GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). The European standard establishes new rules for organizations that hold and process data of natural persons residing in the European community, regardless of where they are located.
